Both on set and in the office, food delivery has been a staple of the FBC diet, so we were plenty familiar with BiteSquad. Between deliveries, our team had an idea for a food delivery ad that we started to get really excited about. So we contacted Bite Squad out of the blue and said, “We have an idea for a Bite Squad commercial that we’re really excited about.” Thankfully BiteSquad is a really cool company, and the project was kicked off.
Our concept was that two guys (AJ and Stephen) are swiping through BiteSquad’s app, and each time they view a new restaurant, they zoom (couch and all) to the middle of that restaurant. AJ swipes nonchalantly, Stephen is on a rollercoaster. By the end, we’ve seen that you can get any type of cuisine through BiteSquad.

Our main challenge was the whole zoom thing. We needed AJ and Stephen to sell the visual of sitting on a flying couch, but more importantly needed our post-production team to make defying the laws of physics look natural. We shot AJ and Stephen on a green screen, and then tasked our VFX team with manipulating the couch to look like it was shooting through space. They also seamlessly added in the different restaurant backgrounds, and kept AJ and Stephen intact on the way (you don’t know tedious until you’ve tried rotoscoping their curly hair frame by frame).
When we finally crafted a video we were proud of, we presented it to BiteSquad. They liked it. It has since rolled out on YouTube, and was broadcast on tv in various cities throughout the country. It’s now gained nearly 700K views on YouTube, and is one of our go-to pieces of work when clients ask, “Can you show us one of your comedic ads?”
